Do(o)remi
A Doorway to Music
Dooremi is a musical door that interactively plays sounds, melodies, and sound textures when in use. We took the natural interactions people have with doors –– grabbing and turning the knob and pushing and puling motions –– and turned them into musical activities. The interactions with doors are often accompanied by a sound that is generally ignored by the user. We believe that this sound can be considered musically rich and expressive as each door has unique sound characteristics and each person makes it sound slightly different. Through surprise, this project aims to bring more awareness of this specific sound of everyday life and also to augment the individual differences of this sound.
